A Level Literature: (17) Othello Vs Gatsby – The Representation of Females

The complex and challenging texts remain as controversial in the post-modern world as they did at the time of publication. I have taught these texts a number of times and have refined this resource at the close of every academic year. I have successfully used this resource to lead my teaching in the classroom, as a homework or distance learning material and even as a tool of revision – all have worked well for the students.

This colossal twenty-five slide presentation provides the appropriate detail and exploration required at A level, and is suitable with slight adaptions for IB and the American system. This presentation commences with an exploration into post-modern representations of females, with structured writing tasks, discussion and mini research tasks – bringing awareness to the inherent sexism that still exists. This exploration scaffolds a more informed analysis of the female characters in both texts, and this is once again taught through a series of structured tasks. Every slide is dynamically illustrated and very engaging. This presentation also contains an extension task and homework assignment. There is no work for you to complete whatsoever. This is a complete resource. Enjoy.

I am now a self-employed English tutor and pretty much a full-time Resource Author. This working life choice allows me to take care of my beautiful American wife and step-daughter, along with my own daughter from a previous relationship - we are a happy disfunctional, yet very loving, little family unit.
