Verb CAN / CAN’T Grammar Practice Pair Work

This is a very simple chart to help students practise grammatical structures with the verb ‘can’.

Divide students into pairs and hand over one copy of the chart to each pair. The game begins with one student from each pair picking a single animal from the chart (but not saying out loud which one). The other student has to guess which animal it is by forming questions: Can it fly/jump/run etc? Student 1 then needs to answer these questions based on the data in the chart, in full sentences: Yes, it can. / No, it can’t. Once the student 2 has guessed the correct animal by way of elimination, they switch places.

In my English teaching practice I'm following one simple rule: if you can't have fun while doing it, your students certainly won't.
