COLOR-CUED VISUAL-CHOICE PRACTICE

The color cue identifies the target uppercase letter while the learner scans four uncolored lowercase choices for its corresponding form.

Choose Tailored—Focused, Tailored—Extended, or Standard work pages based on the learner and learning experience. Then choose Modeled Practice when an example would help clarify the expected response or Independent Practice when that support is not needed.

The options are designed to be selected independently rather than treated as fixed levels.

If scanning four choices adds unnecessary difficulty, some choices can be temporarily covered and revealed as appropriate. If coloring interferes with demonstrating letter recognition, another clear response, such as pointing or placing a marker, can be used when the goal is identifying the matching letter.
