Give learners a color cue and a field of choices as they practice connecting corresponding uppercase and lowercase letters.

 

This Uppercase and Lowercase Color-Cued Alphabet Matching Practice provides visual-choice practice in both uppercase-to-lowercase and lowercase-to-uppercase directions. Learners identify the colored target letter, scan four choices, and color the rectangle containing its corresponding uppercase or lowercase form.

COLOR-CUED VISUAL-CHOICE PRACTICE

The color cue identifies the target letter while the learner scans four uncolored choices for the corresponding uppercase or lowercase form.

Choose the matching direction, work-page format, and level of modeling separately based on the learner and learning experience. Use Modeled Practice when an example would help clarify the expected response or Independent Practice when that support is not needed.

If four choices add unnecessary difficulty, some choices can be temporarily covered and revealed as appropriate. When coloring interferes with demonstrating letter recognition, learners can respond another clear way, such as pointing or placing a marker.
